VolunTeen program
The VolunTeen program at Baptist Health La Grange is a summer youth program for students. The purpose of this program is to acquaint teens with caregiver roles in a hospital environment. To participate, students must be 14-19 years old. Each VolunTeen is assigned to work with a staff member in various hospital departments, including nursing units, Materials Management, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Diagnostic Services, Pharmacy, Registration, Customer Relations, Administration and other areas of the hospital.
The program provides students with the experience of working in a hospital environment with the focus on patient-care responsibilities and serves as a reference for future job and college applications. About 20 VolunTeens work at Baptist Health La Grange each summer. Students can use their hours of service toward honor societies and service organizations.
