American Heart Association names Baptist Northeast a Fit-Friendly Company

Fit-Friendly Company for its efforts in promoting employee fitness.

Nancy Brown, chief executive officer of the American Heart Association, said, “As a Gold Level Award recipient, Baptist Hospital Northeast has not only recognized the importance of a healthy workplace for its employees, but has taken important steps to create a culture of physical activity in the workplace.”

Baptist Northeast was recognized for several initiatives, including: creating indoor and outdoor walking paths with color-coded maps for various distances; winning the award for most participants in the Oldham County Grand Slam in 2009 and 2010, beginning the “Start” walking program in April 2010 with six walking teams, observing “Wear Your Tennis Shoes to Work Day,” partnering with the Oldham County Family YMCA to promote fitness in the community, and offering a selection of healthy foods and beverages in the cafeteria.
