Lab aces CAP survey
Baptist Hospital Northeast’s Laboratory has received accreditation from the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), based on the results of a recent on-site inspection.
Accreditation is renewed every two years, when teams of people from other CAP-accredited labs perform personal inspections. The Lab performs self-inspections according to CAP guidelines between these personal inspections. CAP surveys four areas: personnel and safety, quality improvement, technical process and proficiency testing, and rates those from unsatisfactory to excellent.
Lab Manager Judy Lawhorn said, “Baptist Hospital Northeast is fortunate to have experienced, licensed laboratory personnel who are dedicated to upholding the standards set by the College of American Pathologists. We could not have reached this level of accreditation without their experience, knowledge and dedication. I appreciate each of them for the expertise they bring to our laboratory and for their commitment to making Baptist Northeast a place that gives excellent care.”
