Shining Stars and Pillar award for May 2011

Baptist Hospital Northeast recently recognized five employees as Shining Stars and gave the Cardiopulmonary Services department its Pillar of Excellence award. Shining Stars are recognized for going above and beyond outside the workplace. The Pillar of Excellence award recognizes an employee or department who is an exemplary example of one or more of the five pillars of the hospital’s Culture of Excellence service initiative.

Shining Stars
Susan Yaple, Nutritional Services, was recognized for her work with Blessings in a Backpack, a program to provide a backpack filled with food to 140 children at La Grange Elementary on Friday afternoons who might otherwise go hungry on the weekends.

Marsha Price, Diagnostic Imaging, was recognized for making sure everyone in her department has a special birthday, coming in on her day off and making cakes using her own funds. She also organizes monthly potlucks.

Marianne Tyler, Emergency Department, was recognized for raising money to get the Emergency Medical Services vehicles in Oldham, Henry and Trimble counties equipped with oxygen masks for pets after seeing patients who had lost their pets in a fire.

Jeff Wright, Medical Office Building, serves as assistant fire chief in Bedford. He was recognized after he heard a call on his scanner about a potential jumper when he was near the Madison Bridge, which is out of his jurisdiction and while he was off duty. He went to the bridge, found the woman and talked her down.

Dawn McCullough, Patient Access department, was recognized after witnessing a car accident on her way to work one morning and staying with a woman who was injured until EMS arrived, keeping her calm and still.
