Volunteer President Alta Haunsz (left) and Taylor StanleyThe Volunteer Association of Baptist Health La Grange recently awarded a $2,000 scholarship to Taylor Stanley, 18, daughter of David and Angie Stanley of Smithfield.

Stanley is a 2012 graduate of Henry County High School. She plans to attend Spalding University and major in occupational therapy. She wants to obtain a master’s degree and serve in the field of pediatric occupational therapy.

“When I found out I had won the scholarship, I was very surprised because it was open to (students in) three counties,” she said. “I would like to thank Baptist Health La Grange for helping me finance my education.”

Seniors in Oldham, Henry and Trimble counties who planned to enroll in an accredited college or university and pursue a career in healthcare were eligible for the scholarship. Entries were judged on the basis of personal and professional goals, achievements, counselor comments and financial need. This is the 17th consecutive year that the Volunteer Association has awarded a scholarship to encourage young people to enter healthcare careers.
