True is winner of Volunteer Association scholarship

The Volunteer Association of Baptist Health La Grange recently awarded a $3,000 scholarship toColyn True, left, and Volunteer Association President Alta Haunsz Colyn True, 17, daughter of Bobby and Katrina True of Bedford.

True is a 2013 graduate of Trimble County High School. She plans to attend the University of Kentucky and major in chemical engineering and eventually become an obstetrician.

“I am so honored and feel so blessed,” True said. “I am so happy to be the recipient of such a wonderful scholarship from such a wonderful place.”

Seniors in Oldham, Henry and Trimble counties who planned to enroll in an accredited college or university and pursue a career in healthcare were eligible for the scholarship. Entries were judged on the basis of personal and professional goals, achievements, counselor comments and financial need. This is the 18th consecutive year that the Volunteer Association has awarded a scholarship to encourage young people to enter healthcare careers. Baptist Health La Grange has 50 active volunteers.
