Conveniently located off I-71 in La Grange, Baptist Hospital Northeast serves a diverse area spread over five Kentucky counties: Oldham, Henry, Trimble, Carroll and eastern Jefferson.

Oldham County

undefinedPart of the metropolitan Louisville area, Oldham County is located just 25 miles north of Kentucky's largest city. The area has experienced remarkable economic and population growth during the past decade and enjoys one of the lowest unemployment rates in Kentucky, as well as the highest per capita income.

Known for its excellent public school system, Oldham County is a wonderful place to raise children and offers many extracurricular activities, including soccer, softball and youth football leagues, as well as scouting, 4-H, a YMCA and the John W. Black Convention and Aquatic Center.

Oldham County Public Schools is the highest performing of Kentucky's 120 county school districts on the state accountability tests of student learning. The school system embraces rigorous academic standards, innovation, continuous improvement and the involvement of parents and community members. The award-winning school district maintains the highest accreditation possible from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and student academic results compare favorably to the best schools in Kentucky and the nation.The fast-growing district serves more than 10,000 students through 20 educational facilities; consisting of a preschool, nine elementary schools, four middle schools, three high schools, an alternative school, a career center and center for the arts/community education center.

Communities within Oldham County include Buckner, Crestwood, Goshen, La Grange, Pewee Valley, Prospect and Westport. La Grange, the county seat, is one of the few towns left in Kentucky where the railroad still runs through the center of town. The downtown area retains its nineteenth century charm, with a recently-renovated historic courthouse and square and unique shops and eateries.

Henry County

HorsesJust 25 minutes north of Louisville and 45 minutes south of the Cincinnati area, via I-71, Henry County offers the benefits of the city in an area that remains primarily rural. Farming is the primary economic activity in the county and major crops include tobacco, corn and beef cattle. For those who enjoy the great outdoors, 136-acre Lake Jericho, located in Smithfield, is open year-round for camping, fishing, picnicking and boating. Communities within Henry County include Campbellsburg, Eminence, New Castle (the county seat), Pleasureville, Sligo and Smithfield. Eminence is Henry County's largest city, with more than 75 percent of the county's industrial jobs, including the manufacture of electric speakers, magnetizers, copper products and strip steel.

Trimble County

Located on the banks of the Ohio River, Trimble County is some 40 miles upstream from Louisville and about 75 miles downstream from Cincinnati, Ohio. The county remains primarily rural with a population of about 6,000. Communities within Trimble County include Milton and Bedford, the county seat. Just across the river is historic Madison, Ind., home of the Madison Regatta hydroplane race and Hanover College.

Carroll County

Carroll County is located halfway between Louisville and Cincinnati. Carrollton, the county seat, offers a unique blend of progress and the past. Established in 1799, Carrollton offers several historic tourist attractions, including the Old Stone Jail, the Masterson House, the Butler-Turpin House and the 25-block downtown area. The county's best known attraction is the 791-acre General Butler State Resort Park, which offers camping, boating, swimming, fishing, hiking, golf, mini-train rides, mountain bike trails and bicycling. Several large manufacturers are located in Carroll County, including Advanced Mechanical Heating & Air, Dayton Walther, Dow Corning, Elf-Atochem, the Gallatin Steel Company, North American Stainless, Parthenon Metal Works and Teledyne Packaging.
