Baptist Hospital Northeast offers pre-natal classes
to give expectant parents the important information and extra confidence they need at this exciting time. We know you want to be as well prepared as possible for both the birth experience and the special care your new baby will need. Learn about the signs and symptoms of labor, stages of labor, pain management during labor, the process of delivery, and the recovery period. Participants will view a video on the actual birth process.
Recommendation: You can attend this class at any time during your pregnancy. A tour of the Women’s Center is available upon request after the class.
A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) will be present to discuss anesthesia options. The CRNA will discuss the benefits and risks associated with the different types of anesthesia for pain management during labor, vaginal delivery or cesarean section.
Recommendation: Plan to attend this class during the last few months of your pregnancy; however, you may attend at any time during your pregnancy.
This class provides information for the new mom on self-care after delivery and information for the new parent on taking care of their newborn. Tips on bathing, diapering, taking temperatures, when to call the doctor, immunizations, feedings, and follow-up care for mom and baby will be discussed.

Learn all about breastfeeding – tips regarding latching-on and positioning, the advantages of breastfeeding and
meeting the infant’s nutritional needs.

This class helps children ages 3 to 11 years feel “special” and part of the new baby’s arrival. Parents remain with their child(ren) during their visit to the nursery and for the class, which includes a video for “big brothers” and “big sisters.” Participants are encouraged to bring their favorite doll or stuffed animal to class for hands-on activities. Refreshments will be served.
